The Local Area & Activities

Nestled in the Tweed Valley, less than an hour from Edinburgh, the Trail House is perfectly located for visitors to enjoy a range of exciting country activities. The Tweed Valley is a mecca for mountain bikers but there is also a variety of other activities including: horse riding stables, luxury spas, boundless hiking/trail running routes and adventure centres.

Mountain Biking

Glentress is a 1-2 minute cycle from the Trail House. The well known 7 stanes centres of Glentress and Innerleithen have a wide range of well-maintained trails. Whether you’re a complete beginner, or a pro, there are trails to suit your ability. The valley also has a growing number of Enduro and Down Hill trails spread throughout the many forests and built by local riders. They range in difficulty but tend to be for the more confident bikers. A number of local companies offer instruction for those looking to progress and guiding for those who want to ride the trails known only to locals. E.g. Go Where, Dirt School (who also run Tweed Valley Guides), Ridelines and Swift Trails. Innerleithen also has an uplift service provided by Adrenalin Uplift.

The Trailforks App offers mapping for the trails in the valley: Glentress, Innerleithen, Caberston (The Golfie), Yair, Thornilee and Cademuir.
